First I would like to extend my prayers and hope for the people of JAPAN. They are facing multiple devastating events, first an earthquake, then tsunami and now a powerful nuclear event. There are no previous events in our history to make a comparison. For me not 3 Mile Island or Chernobyl will come close to this one. They were only dealing with 1 reactor in each incident, but the Japanese are dealing with 6 at once.

Is this the price we pay for being a glutton society as a whole? This is not just about Japan, but all of us! Maybe change will be forced upon us, whether we like or not...

It seems impossible that I haven't posted since the World Cup in South Africa more then 6 months ago, but alas it's true. 2010 was an unusual year across the board and I'm glad it's over, but I did do some amazing work!

But I'm so excited about this years projects! First up we are finally making a new Bibi Book. This will be our 12th year and the book is about Miami & New York!

The Adventures of Bibi & Friends, a mini-comic book that’s also a guide to Miami, will be publishing Bibi’s adventures in New York & Miami, cross promoting both cities. The beautifully illustrated full-color comic provides extraordinary realism and details of Bibi's adventures with her clients, their businesses and the story location. Follow Bibi as she travels back and forth from New York to Miami and visits some of the hotspots of both cities. Night in Brazil!

          The Set Up
I’d been excitedly looking forward to Brazil’s opening night and I was NOT disappointed! Not only was the game fantastic, but the vibe at Casa Little Brazil, which has taken over the Sea Point Civic Centre in Cape Town for the next month, was incredible.

We paid R60 (about $8.00 Canadian) cover charge each, and as soon as we walked through the door, we knew it would not be a waste. Just inside the entrance lay a man-made beach made from authentic Cape Town sand! Beyond the beach was the auditorium, where we found bars, food, a live samba band, a DJ booth and of course, a huge TV screen. More incredible than the ‘things’ we found were the PEOPLE. The place was pumping with crazed Brazilian fans decked out in all variations and combinations of their yellow and green fan gear, and instead of walking from place to place, everyone danced – just as I imagined Brazilians would do! Before the game started, we were treated to three bedazzled and befeathered female dancers (one Brazilian and two South African) shimmying and gyrating around a lone, topless gyrating Brazilian male.   Did I say topless? and gyrating? sigh...

The Game
Up to the balcony we climbed, claiming a perfect row of seats with a terrific view of the screen.   Vuvuzelas were paaaaarping – yes, BRAZILIANS were happily blowing vuvuzelas to the samba rhythms, shaking their booties as if the vuvuzelas had always been part of their football tradition!
As we were in a Portugese-speaking crowd, the broadcast was also in Portugese, which was a bit challenging for us English speakers. This did, however, make for a very unique experience.
Because I lived in Korea in the late 90s, I can recognize the sounds of Korean words. When the Brazilian broadcaster was speaking, I could make out the names of the North Korean players, even when mixed in with the Portugese. This is what the game sounded like to me:
“blah blah blah blah vuvuzela blah blah Ji Yun Nam blah blah blah Kaka blah blah blah vuvuzela blah blah blah Kaka blah blah Kaka blah Kim Yong Jun blah blah Hong Yong Jo blah vuvuzela blah blah Kaka blah...etc.”
BTW, Kak means ‘poop’ in South Africa...sorry all you Kaka fans, but it’s true!

Anyhow, as everyone knows, North Korea played incredibly and put Brazil to the test. North Korea worked so bloody hard that when they finally scored a goal, all the Brazilians stood up and cheered for them!!! How classy is that?!?! It gave me yet another reason to want to go back for the next game (as if the food, booze, samba and hot ‘topless and gyrating’ Brazilian guy weren’t reason enough!).
After the game, the dancing broke out once again, and the sounds of samba continued well into the Cape Town night. Viva Brazil!

TODAY IS YOUTH DAY IN SOUTH AFRICA

This is the shot that was seen and heard around the world 34 years ago. The photo was taken by Masana Sam Zema at a youth protest of the forced use of Afrikaans / English 50-50 mix language being taught to them.

June 16, 1976 blacks student had a walkout at school and marched toward a rally at Orlando Stadium. The rest of the story is history. Accounts vary as to the numbers of deaths (ranging from 200-600), but there were an estimated 1000 injuries on top of that.

I remember seeing that photo on the front page of the New York Times, a few days later and it shook me to my core. I said to myself "WTF...they kill their own children?" The world outrage was immediate.

But that school uprising was the beginning of the end of apartheid and I was so happy for South Africa to see it go. I cried tears of joy when Mandela was elected president and now we all celebrate the growth of a nation with the 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP!

PS: The boy who died in that photo is Hector Pieterson and there is a wonderful memorial in Soweto for him including the very photo of the above image!

Lucky, Lucky, Lucky New Zealand! They scored a late goal (last 30 seconds in additional stoppage time) that tied the game with Slovenia, leaving all 4 teams in that group with 1 point each. Great news for Italy!
Portugal and The Ivory Coast are now playing (1st half so far no goal).

We wait for the Brazil vs North Korea match this afternoon. Our on the ground blogger, Dianne Russell will bring us photos & news from Casa Little Brazil in Cape Town South African! According to Dianne and I quote "the pavillion has an indoor beach, bars, food, dancing, live music, and best of all, a live broadcast of Brazil's first game (against North Korea) on a huge screen! With over 5,300 Brazilians visiting Cape Town, this will be the best party in the city". That should be colorful and we look forward to seeing a photo journey of this experience!

The first time I heard that noise on the TV, I thought "What the hell is that noise"? I actually thought for second it was millions of bees, but it turns out to be "The Vuvuzela Horn". After this world cup, the ear doctor is going to have a field day, making lots of money from people who have hearing loss...lol!

What a game! South Africa had chance to win it in the closing minutes, but the ball hit the post of the goal and the player was alone with the shot. Um, Um, Um! Missed opportunity to be a hero in South Africa, but the game opened with a damper to it. Mr. Nelson Mandela's great-granddaughter died in a 1 vehicle car crash, after leaving the stadium for the kickoff opening concert. Whomever was driving her, might have been drunk and if that is the case, this story is even more tragic. It's time for the 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP from SOUTH AFRICA! I know some of you could care less about soccer aka football to everyone else except Americans, but it IS the biggest sport in the world.

So for those of you who know nothing about the sport, let's give you a little lesson. There are 8 groups (A-H) with 4 teams in each group. The teams within the groups play each other. The 2 top scoring teams within the group, then play in round 16, with the 1st top scoring team of group A, playing the 2nd scoring team of group B, then the 1st top scoring team of group B, plays 2nd scoring team of group C and so on and so on! The winners of these matches, then move on to quarter finals, then the semi-finals, with the 2 losing teams playing for 3rd place...then the FINAL MATCH (A lot like tennis, but teams instead of individual players).
This is the first time the games are being played on the African continent, which in itself is very exciting, especially for AFRICA! The cities that the games are being played in are: CAPE TOWN, MANGAUNG/BLOEMFONTEIN, POLOKWANE, DURBAN, NELSON MANDELA BAY/PORT ELIZABETH (some of the biggest matches are here, including the finals...see the 360 view of stadium below in another post), RUSTENBURG, JOHANNESBURG, NELSPRUIT, TSHWANE/PRETORIA!

The games will be broadcast LIVE DAILY on (American Schedule) ESPN, ESPN 2 and ABC in high definition! Here is the schedule of matches from ESPN for Friday June 11 - Tuesday June 15th

It's only 3 days to the FIFA 2010 WORLD CUP from South Africa, but since this is the first ever World Cup on the African continent, I decided to bring you stories from all over Africa. Today I would like to introduce you to our first guest blogger;

Samburu Background

The name ‘Samburu’ is also of Maasai origin, ‘Samburr’, being the traditional leather bag specific to the tribe that they use for carrying meat and honey. Samburu are a proud warrior-race of cattle-owning pastoralists. The Samburu are closely related to the Maasai. Like the Maasai, they live in the central Rift Valley area of Kenya, where the climate is semi-arid. They are semi nomadic and belong to the Maa (Nilotic) speaking group of people. Their livelihood depends upon the cattle, sheep and goats they raise. They use their milk more than meat, often drinking milk mixed with cow's blood. Like their neighbors, they have to search for water and grazing land which leads them out from their homes during dry seasons. The Samburu live in huts made of branches, mud, and cow dung. Around it, there is a fence made of thorn bushes, in which the cattle are kept at night. Most Samburu still wear traditional dress. Like the Maasai, women wear colorful beaded necklaces. The number of necklaces is a sign of wealth, often given as dowry. They wear bright clothes, usually red and pink. To protect their eyes from the sun, Samburu warriors often paste their hair with ochre which creates a visor. Samburu are very spiritual people, believing and praying every day to the God called Nkai. Age determines men's social status: each man has to go through various stages before becoming a powerful elder. Circumcision marks the boy’s transition to a young warrior, while girls’ excision is carried out mostly on the day of marriage or before (usually at 16 years old).

History

The Samburu developed from one of the later Nilotic migrations from the Sudan, as part of the Plains Nilotic movement. The broader grouping of the Maa-speaking people continued moving south, possibly under the pressure of the Borana expansion into their plains. Maa-speaking peoples have lived and fought from Mt. Elgon to Malindi and down the Rift Valley into Tanzania.

The Samburu are in an early settlement area of the Maa group. Those who moved on south, however (called Maasai), have retained a more purely nomadic lifestyle until recently when they have also begun farming. The expanding Turkana ran into the Samburu around 1700 when they began expanding north and east.

Language:

The language of the Samburu people is also called Samburu. It is a Maa language very close to the Maasai dialects. Linguists have debated the distinction between the Samburu and Maasai languages for decades.

In normal conversation one who speaks one of these languages can understand the other language 95 percent of the time. But a joint Bible translation was found to be ineffective to cover both groups. Preferred word usage and some grammatical difficulties required a separate translation for Samburu and Maasai.

The Samburu tongue is also related to Turkana and Karamojong, and more distantly to Pokot and the Kalenjin languages.

The Chamus (Njemps) people speak the Samburu language and are often counted as Samburu people. The Ariaal group of Rendille has been greatly affected by the Samburu and now speaks the Samburu language. The Ariaal number 102,000, making a total of 249,300 mother-tongue speakers of the Samburu language.

Swahili is used extensively, particularly among younger people. Swahili is the language of education and English is taught in schools. There is still a low level of literacy and education, however, among the Samburu.

Customs

Generally between five and ten families set up encampments for five weeks and then move on to new pastures. Adult men care for the grazing cattle which are the major source of livelihood. Women are in charge of maintaining the portable huts, milking cows, obtaining water and gathering firewood. Their houses are of plastered mud or hides and grass mats stretched over a frame of poles. A fence of thorns surrounds each family's cattle yard and huts.

May has been a fun and interesting month so far! I was interviewed by NBC on Life Saving Dialysis Machine story. I got these dialysis machines donated to Project Save The World for a Haitian fundraiser. Please watch the NBC story below!

DREILING MEDICAL MANAGEMENT DONATES DIALYSIS MACHINES TO PROJECT SAVE THE WORLD – “A BENEFIT FOR HAITI”

Project Save The World is a 501 (c) 3 non- profit organization that was created to simply and purely give back by changing the world, ”One mission at a time".

Decision made to help Project Medishare: A very worthy cause

Project Save The World hired Brigitte Andrade to produce and brand a Haitian Fundraiser event they were organizing. The first thing Brigitte did was get PSTW to dedicate their fundraising mission to Project Medishare. In meeting with Jenna Green (daughter of Dr. Barth Green: One of the Founders of Project Medishare) Brigitte Andrade asked what they needed help with and Jenna said they were desperate for a dialysis machine, because their machines were lost in the earthquake; and there were many earthquake victims had crushed injuries. Lives were being lost. Brigitte made a phone call to a her friend Michael Paul Dreiling whom she happen to know owned and operated dialysis centers. She asked if he could help and 1 day later Michael Paul Dreiling and Judy Lease Dreiling of Dreiling Medical Management donated 9 dialysis machines to Project Save The World.

And the gift kept giving. They also donated an anesthesia machine, spare parts, jugs and then a EKG machine. The machines weigh over 2,000 pounds so finding someone to ship these machines became a challenge. First we had to find someone to wrap the machines before they could be shipped. Thanks to Jennifer Morrison at Renal Care in Clarion, PA, she got New ERA of Clarion to crate the machines. Another friend made a phone call to Tony Robinson of Opa Locka Flightline, who then got Ray Moon at Federal Express to donated their services and ship the machines.

The 2 Superbowl teams have been decided: THE COLTS & THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS! But first this week we have the hype of the THE PRO BOWL taking place which is this Sunday January 31st here in Miami. The plane loads of people will start unloading today and I myself am looking forward to the business. I had a major Superbowl project,"SCORE 44" to take place this week, but only half the sponsors teams made it to the Superbowl, so I have 2 days to adjust the plan. SCORE 44: A Superbowl Art Project Now Helping Haiti

Hello Everyone! If you follow me on Facebook & Twitter you have been hearing about our fabulous Superbowl project called "SCORE 44". A wonderful live 2 week painting of the Superbowl teams, scenes of Miami Beach/Miami, product sponsors, international & sports celebrities. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the painting were going to one of the NFL charities, but yesterday the game changed.

There was a massive earthquake in Haiti, and the devastation is beyond comprehension to put into words. This country and the Haitian people were already suffering (from many years of many things) but in particular the 4 hurricanes that hit the island in 2008. They were still suffering and most of the population barely surviving, when the earthquake struck. SCORE 44 has now turned into a relief effort for the people living in Haiti. SCORE 44 will donate the money it raises to http://www.wfp.org/how-to-help. We think donations for food is a good start and the World Food Program has these energy packages that they have mobilized to donate.

I'm reaching out to all of you to help. For donations, give a little or give a lot (we are asking for minimum donations of $20.00 but will take what you can give).

For SPONSORS to be painted in the SCORE 44 SUPERBOWL PAINTING a minimum of $1,000.00

Besides the money we raise from donations, we are donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of SCORE 44, and the SPONSORS of SCORE 44 that are included in the painting, will have their names listed as donors to the charity.

A Busy November!

Well it is November and what a busy month. Besides planning my big birthday celebration (weekend of November 19th-23th), there is the Miami Book Fair, training for the Superbowl, Thanksgiving, the monthly art walks, various friends & relatives visiting and getting ready for Art Basel. Currently I'm working on Art December Miami which is keeping me very busy. If you don't know by now, that is my new art site covering the art fairs, events, online artist group show and parties taking place during the first week December during Art Basel / Art Miami.

Well I couldn't be happier! JOEY ROLON, one of the best designers and stylist to the stars, is back on Miami beach in his new store "Funky Sexy Couture". Now this genius knows how to make a woman look like a million bucks, without spending a million. When I look at all of my photos past & present; the ones where he dressed me, stand out like classic Audrey Hepburn photos.

So I'm helping him launch his new store located at 900 Washington Avenue (courtyard, parking lot...yes there is parking)! We are hosting him at my weekly Wednesday dinner party "Chef's Table at I Bishcheri in the Nash Hotel 1120 Collins Avenue.

I cannot believe that I have not posted for a month. I tried twice but something happened when uploading photos. This past month has been really busy with marketing and networking. Bibi now has a new event call "Chef's Table" at I Bischeri in The Nash Hotel 1120 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach. Here are some comic strips of the new event.

Next Wednesday I will be hosting a party for my dear friend Joey Rolon, who just opened a new store called "Funky Sexy Couture" 900 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach. His stuff is HOT, HOT, HOT! Creativity!

The last few days my creativity is running high! Bibi needed a new marketing tool to work with, and this video works. One of the best things about making a visual presentation in this day and age, is the ability to deliver it and have it seen by lots of people. Thanks to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc, you can reach thousands to millions of people in no time. If I think just 10 years ago how impossible this would be without spending lots of money to advertise; it blows my mind. It takes nothing today to market ones self except time, some knowledge and a little patience. Money is not required.

I chose to keep it simple, but it represents the best of what I do and highlights the City of Miami Beach, with celebrities such as Oprah, George Clooney, Beyonce, Gloria Estefan and many others. Only celebrities that live, work or play here, can be in The Adventures of Bibi & Friends. Great nightlife such as Karu & Y & Louis nightclub at the Gansevoort Hotel, fabulous dining at Joe's Stone Crab, wonderful events such as The Wine & Food Festival. Of course included is Bibi Sports and Bibi Merchandise.

So much to do, So little time!

In my free time of waiting at the doctors office today, I complied another list of things to do for the next two months. These projects (like updating websites) required a fare amount of time to complete. The process of getting all the new info and then the time to change it on the sites. My webmaster does a certain amount and I do the rest. I have notebooks of my things to do list. I'm happy to report that a LOT of it gets done, but then there is the process of making a new list when that one is complete. One of the tricks I find useful is to go back every few months to review and see if I have accomplished my goals. If not I bring it forward to the new list and keep working on it!

What I have realized over the years is that I GET A LOT HANDLED! So I don't beat myself up if there is something that hasn't been done yet, and instead keep my eye on the bigger picture. It is not the road I'm looking at, but the pleasure of the journey itself. What a great journey!

The Passing of Michael Jackson

So much has been written and dissected about the life of Michael Jackson over the past 2 weeks. His death hit me in strange way. In some bizarre way I felt like a chapter of my childhood had come to a close. Everything in my pre-teen & mid-teen years, revolved around The Jackson Five & Michael Jackson. I can laugh now, but I was Jackson groupie to the core. Every poster on the wall, played the vinyl all day every day, until my mother threaten to break it, if I didn't play something else. This from a woman, whom upon breaking up with boyfriend in the late 60's, played the same Dionne Warrick song for 24 hours, 3 days in row. I actually told her I wanted to live with another relative if she played that song again...lol!

I never missed a concert in New York or New Jersey and had the pleasure of meeting all of them except Michael himself. He was always kept under lock & key. I was close on several occasions, but never him. All the photos from that period are now missing (from moving around) and that is a shame, but I do have my memories.

When he separated from the group and released OFF THE WALL & THRILLER in the early eighties, I became a fan of another kind. One of respect for a genius. Those videos were mini-movies. Just genius! At that time I was the Managing Director of the first & largest Hair & Makeup agency in New York called Beauty Bookings. When the Jackson's reunited and did their Victory Tour in New York, I once again came in contact with the Brothers, but this time in a most unique way. It was the launch of Whitney Houston's career. She had her public premier that night at The Limelight nightclub singing with Jermaine Jackson after the Victory Tour concert. One of my makeup artist by the name of Quietfire, did her makeup, so I got to do the behind the scenes thing. Whitney was really young at the time, 18 or so and I remember that night like it yesterday; another STAR was born. She could SING, as of course we have all come to know.

The first hint that something unusual, might happen to Michael Jackson came in 1986 at of all places Eddie Murphy's house in New Jersey. Someone at the house revealed that one day in the future, allegations about his sexuality were going to come out and we were going to shocked. Eddie wasn't buying it and you could not talk bad about Michael because as it turned out, he was as big of fan as I was, if not bigger. I didn't know what to think and filed the comment under future reference in my brain. So imagine my shock 6-7 years later when the first lawsuit was filed. Hummm!

In the end because he was not convicted of anything, all I can do is just pray that nothing happen to any of those kids. With him gone and leaving behind kids of his own, I have decided to remember him for what he did for ME! Which was make me happy, teach me new dance moves, and forever sing along to his songs.

My life the last 2 months!

So it has been a little over 2 months since I posted. The entire month of April had me producing the fastest book I ever made. The book was produced for the big POW WOW convention in Miami Beach the middle of May, but the bureau did not print the book after all. So we have made a few updates and will now release the book for the fall. Actually I'm glad, because the current book was still in circulation with information through August. The month of May was busy with events, theater and volunteering as a Miami Beach ambassador for tourism.

Now the month of June takes a turn when the first Friday brings an unexpected flood to my city and directly to our under ground parking garage, which was filled with water up to my hip. Needless to say, we lost our car and major repairs to the scooter. The month proceeded to go by in a blur. Between tows, insurance claims, car shopping, scooter repairs and on top of it, a major house project; I stepped away from the communications of Facebook, Twitter, checking emails, etc. I finally started to see the light the last few days of June.

Just as I came up for air, a really most unexpected thing happened: Michael Jackson passed away. Comments on this event require a separate posting, which will follow.

I'm happy to be back at work and in communication again. It's time to dust off some projects that need attention and others that been waiting for the right time & place to come forth.

Who is Watching?

Today I was navigating around my Facebook page (as it keeps changing), when I came upon a invite to join a Facebook group: Things you didn't know about Facebook. So I went there and read the list and have to admit it was a little unsettling. We all know we are being watched by Big Brother and basically nothing is really private anymore. But who else is watching and just how much access do they have to all this information that we are putting out there? Well it turns out it could be a lot.

For example beware of all these applications that we all have gotten attached to. When was the last time you checked your privacy settings? Is everything set for anyone to search or access your profile? On your applications there is tab: granted additional permissions, go there and unchecked that box. I don't remember granting anyone all of this access to my personal information, even when I AM NOT USING THE APPLICATION! There is lots of sharing of information behind the scene, that most of us will never know about. I'm just not ready to throw all of my caution to the wind and would advise the same to my all friends.

It is such a catch 22 situation for persons like myself, who publish for living and need this median for marketing. I enjoy sharing the fun that I do and meeting my fans, but my actual friends on FB is a limited group of people. Everyone can be a fan or acquaintance, but not everyone can be a personal friend. That would require more time then there is in a day, which I don't have. But I still send love to all, and extra to those that really need it!

So in ending, to all of those , watching, following, being followed and etc. I have only one thing to say: HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!

I was suppose to start blogging again, but I have been so busy creating, there hasn't been much time to blah, blah! Just know that I am still here on sunny Miami Beach, where there has been a cool breeze going on for 3 months straight...amazing! I have not had to turn on the air conditioner since early December. I didn't know how to react when I saw how low my electric bill was.

There is just so much to do and not enough time (because I need my sleep) in a day. And by the way I really dislike daylight savings time. It has disrupted my working routine. I like getting up early in the morning at dawn with sun rising a little after 6 AM. I like the morning light. It's gives me my daily vitamin D and my brain works well. During daylight saving time, my groove gets a late start and I feel out of sync. I guess I have to get over it!

It's hard to believe but the month of January is almost finished and I don't know where it went. Well okay, I spent 2 1/2 weeks of it sick. Of course the most exciting thing this month was the inauguration of President Barack Obama! I'm currently working on a Bibi comic collectors Inauguration edition! Very exciting stuff! The Bibicomic strip is taking off and will start uploading a weekly strip.

USA MEN'S BASKETBALL WIN GOLD AGAINST SPAIN!

It must feel really nice to win after what happened in Athens! Congrats to the USA team for hanging in there. It actually was a tough game. Spain did not back down for moment. They were within 2 points in the 4Th quarter, but D. Wade put in a 3 pointer in the last 2 minutes, that put the boys over the top. GREAT GAME! Congrats to Spain for the Silver also!

Well I'm off the to closing ceremonies and all the after parties! Will tell you about all the fun after! And by the way congrats to all the Olympic athletes. You have provided us with memorable games, Thank You!

Shawn Johnson Finally Won Gold Last Night!

Good Morning from Beijing, where it is Wednesday August 20th, but evening Miami time. So you haven't seen it yet, but I don't care. Shawn Johnson finally won a gold medal on the balance-beam.

In some of the strangest gymnastic scoring, they finally didn't have a choice..she was the best and there was no stealing this one. Nastia took the Silver medal. Yeah!

I'm finally done with some of the events until this Friday and time to party in Beijing. We have been to a few clubs & bars while here. I loved the Lan Club, Suzie Wong & China Doll. We had a few American friends join us!

Next I'm going to show you some sights & sounds of Beijing. Also what we've been eating and the shopping is really something else. Everything is about bargaining here. You are suppose to end up at about 50% of whatever their offer is. Your suppose to say "No No" too expensive and walk away so that they come & chase after you. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't...lol! There are no "real antiques" in the market place, but still nice things for gifts and around the house.

Lili & I want to take a day trip to Lijiang, which has been declared an old historic city. It's like time stopped there in China. We have so much to share with you! We will return later with more pictures & information!

This Is Turning Out To Be A Great Olympics!

Hello Bibites! I hope all of you are enjoying the Olympics as much as we are! Of course this is not just about USA, but I have to tell you this morning in Beijing (their time), was fantastic for the USA! Gold & Bronze for Nastia Liukin & Shawn Johnson, the first ever in woman's all around gymnastics. They nailed their routines. I'm personally having issues with the judging...it is starting to remind me of that ice skating judging scandal, some years ago. Does anyone remember that....hummmm?

And boy wonder? Well what can we say...Go PHELPS! Congrats also to Ryan Lochte (from Florida..Yeah)for his first individual gold. Let me not forget the golden girls of beach volleyball May-Treanor & Walsh. They finally had some serious competition from Belgium (that one girl was really big), but came from behind and still have not lost a match yet. What is it now 104...is that games or matches..I can't keep track.

Well it's time to cover other sports this weekend and finally Bibi & Lili have checked in and submitted some really fun stuff. They said they were really busy (Lili confessed...exhausted). Yeah right, excuses, excuses! Their fans have been waiting..okay worth the wait. Well this guest blogger is turning the blog back over to the girls.

The Man of The Hour...Michael Phelps!

It's official! He is the all time Gold wining medalist in Olympic history! Another 2 gold medals this morning in Beijing. That's five this Olympics if your keeping count.

Bibi & Lili are at the woman's final team gymnastics and just text that the USA woman fell apart on the last 2 rotations. They are in 2nd place right now. China will really have to lose it for USA to get the gold.

Congrats To The Chinese Men's Gymnastic Team!

It looked scary for a moment, but there was little doubt that they would pull out a gold medal. The big surprise of course was the USA men's team stepped up and got the bronze medal! For a first time team, they were really good and very motivated. They slipped a little in the end, moving from Silver to Bronze, but I'm sure they are not complaining today...lol!

I'm Really Enjoying The Water Cube Sports!

Bibi, Lili & Louis are running around Beijing having way too much fun, as was President Bush. Every game they went to, there he was! They didn't nail an interview, that honor went to Bob Costas. I have never seen Bush so relaxed in interview. He was so giddy and Bob was doing a nice job of grilling him.

Well if you the missed men's 4x100m free relay race, you really missed one of the best swim meets I've seen. What a nail biter! I still can't believe USA won. The men's basketball game was exciting also, just because China really had their hopes high and there was electric energy in the air. Having 2 presidents in the crowd, China & USA, gave that extra spark. I personally think China has put too much pressure on Yao Ming to deliver a miracle. He can't do it alone, basket is a "team" sport and you need the whole team to help win, especially against Wade, Lebron & Kobe.

Carrie Walsh & Misty May-Treanor are just mopping up the competition in beach volleyball. After all these woman have won 103 straight matches. I had the pleasure of watching them in Miami Beach...they are good! So that is 2 straight wins for them.

China is 2 for 2 in diving. The synchronized diving is an interesting sport to watch. That is really a lot of work to be synchro like that.

A Spectacular Opening Cermony Friday Night!

Well what can Bibi & Lili say, but special, special special! It was over the top fabulous as opening ceremonies go! We certainly hope all of you got a chance to watch this on TV. My favorite torch lighting was the bow & arrow, until last night. Watching that Olympian run around the top of that entire stadium, defied logic, but it was great. Now that the ceremonies are finished until the 24th of August, time to report on some games.

Can you believe...it's finally August 8th, 2008 or 8-8-8 for the Chinese!
Tonight Bibi & Lili are attending the Opening Night Cermonies at the now famous Birds Nest Stadium.
There will be 100,000 spectators, 14,000 athletes, and we hear the fireworks are going to be over the top, with fireworks being launched from over 1800 sites around Beijing! Now that is what I call a fireworks show! We have so many great new photos to share with you, but because today is a very busy day, we will share everything with you starting tomorrow.

The first Olympic games have already taken place in Soccer. The American women lost their game on Wednesday, but the men are doing great.
US beat Japan, Brazil outskilled Belgium, Italy won against Honduras & Australia & Serbia are tied 1-1.

In the comic page of today, Bibi & Lili go dining at one of Beijing's hottest new restaurants & clubs...The LAN CLUB. Designed by Philippe Starck this place is fabulous! Located in the Chaoyang province of town, at the LG Twin Towers building,
12 Jianguomenwai Dajie, 4th Fl. Of course you have to be really special to get reservation during the Olympics.

We Are Leaving Hong Kong! On Our Way To The Mainland! Five days To Go!

Hello Bibites! That is my new name for my fans and new visitors alike! It's to believe that after talking about this adventure for two years, this week has finally arrived. The Chinese must be getting nervous on many levels. This Olympics is their coming out party and I can't imagine how difficult it is to loosen your power grip. After all this is still a communist country with tight control. The story this week of the media storm over their blocking access to dissident information, caused the Chinese government to back down and remove the firewall on the internet (did not apply to Tibet). For the next three weeks, centuries of privacy are out the window. Not sure they will ever be able to close it ago, but this is Chinese we are talking, so don't under estimate them.

But anyway I have some Bibi advice this week. Remember Murphy's law...if it can go wrong, it will! So don't worry about being perfect and the best. Just do your best, have a backup plan, and we will love all your effort and showmanship the same. If something goes wrong, laugh it off (of course as long as no one gets hurt), say "Oh, Murphy's law" and keep moving. The majority of people only see flaws if you point them out.

But getting back to the Olympics, Bibi & Lili are in Hong Kong on their first leg of The Bibi & Lili China Adventures. 47 Days & Counting

Hello Everyone,

It's been over a month since I last posted. Have been very ill and have recovered 100%. Thank you for all of wishes. News update on "Practice Your English"...my webmaster sucks. I spent months organizing this and he says he prepared everything, then disappeared. So I have regrouped and am bringing another version of this wonderful idea. Sometimes if you wanted something done right you have to do it yourself.

Anyway, I'm posting the new China shortly. I'm very excited and happy to be working with my new Chinese partner Charlotte Barron. Exciting things are happening with this project that go well beyond the Olympics. Stay posted for good news!

2008 has finally arrived and will be our most exciting year yet! I hope everyone is in good health and has an fabulous New Year!

I will be introducing you to the new Bibi Characters that will join us for our China adventure. You will meet Bibi's cousin Lili from Mott Street in Chinatown, New York City. She is a lot of fun. Of course we will be joined by Laurent the famous tennis player, and his twin brother Rico the international soccer sensation.

Also joining us is the real life NBA star ERIC WILLIAMS, as our official Basketball ambassador!

Well, my excitement is building as we begin our BIBI IN BEIJING, China Adventure!

Since we are having a Beijing adventure, I thought it might be nice to learn a little history about the city itself, which we will present in the form of FUN FACTS!

* King Wu declared Beijing the capital city in 1057 BC. (that is old..wow!)
* The city has gone by the names of Ji, Zhongdu and Dadu!
* Ming Dynasty Emperor ChengZu chose the name Beijing in 1421

* The population of Beijing is about 12 million people
* Beijing is located in the northeastern part of China 43.5m above sea level
* Beijing has cold & dry winters and hot summers
* There are 18 districts and counties in Beijing
